The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), has commenced a collaboration with Israeli businessmen as part of measures to boost bilateral ties and also aid activities in the nation’s non-oil sector.

Under the pact, Israel, which is reputed for hi-tech production in medicine, security wares and agriculture, is expected to partner with Nigerian manufacturers and entrepreneurs on technology transfer in the real sector to drive government’s diversification agenda.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the business meeting organized by NACCIMA in Lagos recently, the National President of the Association, Chief Bassey Edem in a statement, said that the relationship between Nigeria and Israel has come of age and needs to be improved.

Edem said that there had been a lot of exchanges between Nigeria and Israel in the area of education, security, technology and agriculture, adding that these need to be enhanced considering Nigeria’s position in the west African market and as the most populous black nation in the world with the population of over 180 million people as well as being Africa’s largest economy.

The NACCIMA boss explained that the peculiar challenges of Nigerian business and investment environment like any other developing economies in the world have tremendously improved with numerous opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, solid mineral, power and telecommunication.

“In this period that the Nigerian Government is working earnestly to diversify the economy, we wish to state that the State of Israel should take advantage of the several incentives that the Federal Government is providing for all prospective investors that have decided to make our country their next destination. There are vast opportunities in the Agricultural Sector which Israel can use its comparative advantage to invest into” Edem said.

Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Uriel Palti, said Israel and Nigeria could collaborate in agriculture, security, water technology and other areas of the real sector, adding that Israeli companies are on hi-tech frontline and would want to share their technical skills.
