Jigawa NUT urges recruitment of more Science, English teachers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Jigawa chapter, on Monday appealed to the state government to recruit more science and English Language teachers.

The Chairman of the union, Alhaji Usman Ya’u, made the appeal at the occasion to mark World Teachers’ Day in Dutse.

Ya’u said that schools in the state had no adequate science and English language teachers, and that the union was worried about the situation.

He also asked the government to provide more teaching and learning facilities for schools as well as full in-service training to all categories of teachers in the state.

He appealed to the government to introduce allowances for rural posting to encourage teachers to go to the villages to teach.

In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Hajia Rabi Ishaq, said the present administration was committed to bringing real positive change to the education sector in the state.
