FORMER Nigerian Minister of Health, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, has declared that Nigeria’s ‘stunted ‘ growth is a consequence of the inability of leaders to optimise opportunities, as well as the wrong decisions taken.

Adelusi-Adeluyi, who is a Council Member and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) made the assertion in Abuja yesterday while delivering the 54th Annual National Management Conference (ANMC) theme lecture titled: “Managing Nigeria for Rapid and Sustainable Development: Redesigning the Future.”

He said: “Mr. President has a short time. He needs to quickly put together a good team to restructure the system and bring relief to Nigerians.
“There are some people who expect President Buhari to deliver changes similar to Le Kuan Yew proportion. However, the setting is different. Lee Kuan Yew ruled Singapore for more than 30 years. But Buhari has only four to eight years. Singapore has Just five million people. Nigeria has about 170 million. What we can do is to realise that no President or government can do it alone. All of us are stakeholders.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) Council has conferred awards on 15 Nigerians at its 2015 Annual National Management Conference in Abuja.

At the ceremony, Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole received the Companion Award of the Institute, while Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi and Sir Joel Fagbemi were conferred with life members.
