Godgift Timipre, Christopher Itodo for NNPC/Chevron Junior Masters semifinals
GODGIFT Timipre and Christopher Itodo have qualified for the semifinals of the 2015 NNPC/Chevron Junior Masters Championship, which is gradually nearing its end at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.
The quarterfinals are holding at the National Stadium, Lagos, with the final and closing ceremony slated for the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday.
First to hit the last four stage of the tournament was top seed, Timipre, who defeated Fakoya Iyanu in quick sets of 6-0, 6-0. It was a very easy match for the top-ranked 17-year-old teen from Rivers State, who looked imperious on court, dropping no point and set on his way to a commanding performance that puts him in frame to hit the final if he conquers his yet to be identified semifinal opponent.
If Timipre reenacts yesterday’s form tomorrow, there is no way he will be stopped from qualifying for Sunday’s showpiece final scheduled for the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.
In another completed quarter-final match, fifth seed, Christopher Itodo battled his way to a 5-7, 7-6, 6-1 win over Ayoola Olumide.
