EFCC arrests 2 suspected internet fraudsters
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested two suspected internet fraudsters – Arinze Ihekwo and Chinemelu Utaku, over alleged email hacking and obtaining money under false pretence.
The commission’s spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, who made the disclosure in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, said the duo would soon be arraigned before a Federal High Court in Asaba.
He said they would be arraigned on a 13-count charge bordering on internet fraud, email hacking and obtaining money under false pretence.
Uwujaren said the EFCC launched investigation into the activities of the suspects following a petition by the Department of State Service (DSS).
“The DSS was informed by one Cliford Okemmuo, that Ihekwo belongs to a syndicate that specialises in cloning unsuspecting victims’ emails in order to trap their financial related transactions,” he said.
