THE Ansar-ud-deen Society of Nigeria recently organized special prayer for souls of the victims who lost their life in Saudi Arabia while performing this year’s Hajj exercise.

The National President, Ansar-ud-deen, Abdulateef Okunnu, at the prayer held in Lagos, said it was a tragic incident in the history of Hajj exercise, where Nigeria lost some of her pilgrims, although, the tragedy, he said has also strengthened the faith of Muslims all over the world.

“Though, whatever happens to man, definitely God knows about it because we are all from Allah and we shall all return to Him,” he said.

He said therefore tasked the Saudi Arabian government to do their thorough investigation to identify the actual cause of the incident in order to prevent future occurrence.

A Missioner of the Society, Chief Imam Zakar Tanni said, “It was quite unfortunate that such an incident happened in Mecca this year. While our thoughts are with the families, we pray Almighty Allah to grant the souls of the victims eternal repose, and the Ummah and all affected families the fortitude to bear the loss. We urge them to take solace in the words of Allah which says: “And say not of those who are killed in the way of Allah; they are dead: nay they are living but perceive (it) not.” – Quran Chapter 2 : 154.

Tanni stated further that, during the Hajj period the Saudi authority consciously put all the strategic safety measures in place in terms of modern technology to guide and control the pilgrims, which had added to their success yearly.

He however, urged the concerned to avoid utterances capable of generating violence and undermining the unity in Islam.

“I believed this is the time to be steadfast in prayer and have faith in Allah as a true Muslims,” he said.

In the same vein, Badagry Missioner, Ansar-ud-deen, Olasekun Mojeed, quoted conspicuously from the verses in the Holy Quran that, “Only Allah who have the capacity to take life and he can also raise the death to life.”

Mojeed also call on the Saudi authorities to spare no effort to provide adequate medical care for all those who sustained various degrees of injuries during the stampede, and urged them to intensify effort in the search for those alleged missing pilgrims.
