We are tired of accidental leadership in Bayelsa, says Alaibe

BAYELSA State governorship aspirant, Mr. Timi Alaibe, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday offered an insight into why he wants to be at the helm of affairs in the state.

Fielding questions from reporters at the headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja shortly after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms, he said he is in the race for the plum job based on his desire to take Bayelsa State out of the woods.

According to him: “Somebody said why do I want to take a shot at it again, and I told him that it is like asking General Buhari why he wants to take a shot at it again. I think that answer is clear. We as Bayelsa people are tired of accidental leadership. We are tired of visionless leadership in Bayelsa State.

“And you know that I come with a lot of experience; sustainable development experience; I come with goodwill network, integrity and reputation to change the course of leadership in our state, a state that is a major oil producing state in Nigeria which has not been able to see structured development in terms of economic development, infrastructural development. “We want to ensure that Bayelsa becomes that destination and the ultimate destination in the Niger Delta. That is the challenge. It looks simple but the former leaders in the state have been challenged but still no result.

“So the credible person you see here is angling for such change for our people, the grassroots people of Bayelsa state who are calling for change not just for the sake of it but to see change in their lives. The welfare of our people is critical, our educational system is collapsing and we want to make that change happen.”

Stating that he would abide by the rules and regulation of the APC, Alaibe who was the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), remarked that he has the requisite experience to take Bayelsa State to the promise land.

Continuing, he noted: “We have built roads in Bayelsa State. I built schools and reclaimed shores. There is no terrain challenge that cannot be resolved. It is like talking about Netherlands sitting on water and you can see infrastructural development if you know what to do. So lets not use the excuse of terrain. That is deceit and that has been the problem. How does the excuse of terrain make you not to resolve the drainage problems in Yenagoa towns?
