OshinowoTEMITOPE Oyesegun Oshinowo was born in Lagos on February 28, 1970 to the late Chief Solomon and Mrs Abeke Oshinowo of Iperu-Remo, Ogun State. He was the second child in a family of six children comprising two brothers and three sisters.

He attended Oregun High School for his post primary education and Olabisi Onabanjo University (formerly Ogun State University), Ago-Iwoye, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

He served as an Economics Teacher in his alma mater during his National Youth Service Corps programme. Thereafter, he joined Guardian Newspapers Limited as an Advert Representative.

A devout Christian, he joined Christ Embassy Church after a life transforming meeting with Pastor Chris Oyakilome at a camp meeting in 1995 titled “Living in Two Worlds”. He was a soul winner and touched many lives for Christ.

He was a very committed member of the church and served as Second Vice President in the then Excel PCF, which was one of the prominent fellowship groups in the church.

Tope married his wife, Bimbolami, in 2007 at Christ Embassy Church, Ikeja. In 2008, the marriage was blessed with a son, Oluwafikunayomi. He was a devoted husband and father.

Tope was buried on Friday, June 7, 2013. He is dearly remembered by his family and friends. In her written tribute, his wife, Bimbolami wrote: “My loving husband, you have fought the good fight of faith, you have kept the faith and there is laid up for you in heaven a crown of righteousness.

Painful as it was and watching you breathe your last, my consolation is that you are in a better place. Our God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the all seeing and all knowing God working all things together for our good.

I thank God for the short time we lived together. I will always miss you! To live is Christ and to die is gain. Your son, Oluwafikunayomi Philip, as you used to call him, will grow up to know the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him.

Rest on in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Tope’s sister and brother-in-law, Ireti and Demola Olaniyi also wrote: “Egbon, though it is painful you left us at this time, our consolation is that you slept in the Lord.

Without mincing words, we shall meet again and part no more. Good night!” Titilola Lewis also wrote in her tribute: “Tope, I will always remember your ever smiling face and the joy you had for my dear cousin, Tokunbo.

Thank you for the good years you shared with her and the rest of the Taiwo clan. Continue to rest with the Lord.” His friend, Michael Ogunsola also wrote: “Toppy, my friend, my best man; a man with a very big heart.

You left this sinful world so early. We cannot ask God why. He knows why he had to call you home at this time. You are greatly missed by my family. The only consolation we have is that you had Christ when you were alive. We are also at peace knowing that you are resting in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Toppy, good night till we meet to part no more.”
