The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu is not behind my emergence as running mate to the All Progressives Congress Governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu says James Abiodun Faleke.

Faleke spoke to newsmen in his country Ekirin-Adde in Ijumu Local Government yesterday against the backdrop of insinuations that Tinubu had spread tentacles of his political dynasty to Kogi State by imposing him on the state wing of the party.

Faleke who is currently representing Ikeja/Ojodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives said that Prince Abubakar Audu‎ made up his mind to pick him to have a more united front to wrest power from the PDP in the State.

The APC running mate was a two times chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State asserted that his choice by Audu as running mate had helped in dousing disaffection and further uniting Kogi APC ahead of the November 21 governorship poll.

On the seeming controversy trailing his emergence, he said: “My emergence as running mate to Prince Abubakar Audu is an act of God. I have to also correct this impression that it has been generating controversies, rather it has generated a lot of support from our party, to leaders, community leaders and everywhere I have been to since my arrival here at home. It has been wonderful.

Predicting an overwhelming victory for the APC he said, ‘I want to tell you by the time elections are over the result you are going to get from Okunland and the Kogi West senatorial district at large would be that of total victory.”

He expressed regret that Kogi under the PDP had suffered immeasurable setback beginning from the time Audu left office in 2003.

Faleke said that all the visible infrastructure and social amenities still standing were treatable to Audu’s administration.

The lawmaker promised that when APC is voted to power, it would return Kogi State to the path of progress and development.

In his words: ‘The insinuation that Tinubu imposed me on the people is not true. It is the decision of Prince Abubakar Audu who said he needed a neutral person as against picking from among contestants to cause disaffection, he called me and I accepted.

“I want to join Prince Abubakar Audu to bring about development and to lift Kogi from the mis-governance it is facing today. All the infrastructures he put in place have been left to decay.”

Faleke cautioned Nigerians against attributing whatever happened around in the country to Tinubu.

He, however, asked people to emulate the national leader for his de-tribalised posture which had made him the son of Kogi to hold sway in Lagos politics without let or hindrance.

Faleke admonished Nigerians to desist from giving their leaders bad names but rather see the country as one indivisible entity.

“Yes! Tinubu is my political father and my biological father I dare say.
