Relationship-Arguments-23-Dos-and-Donts-to-RememberAre you in a marriage where you believe your partner just doesn’t understand you? Do you feel like you are losing your cool…and your mind each day your spouse refuses to change their ways and stop hurting you?

You are not alone!
There are tons of marriages facing this predicament in recent times. Just last week, we watched as a woman scorned shared her tales of woe with us and millions of others, citing the alleged ills dealt to her by her ex-husband.

But I’m not here to talk about the specifics
Watching her made me extremely sad, as I just couldn’t fathom how things had deteriorated to this level in their relationship, to the point where she proceeds to curse him and his family – with a bible. All this prompted me to make this video (watch here), telling couples how to live in a situation that might not be so ideal, without losing their “cool”.

Let’s talk about your mind for a minute
#1 – You have to guard it jealously and keep it from evil. Nothing should happen that throws your mind off guard. This is how God asks that we live. You need to be responsible for the type of people/incidents you let into your private space. No one should change you from a God-empowered person to a “raving lunatic”. Period! Listen to who God says you are, get your validation from him not an earthly being that one-day will pass away.

It is your responsibility to keep yourself healthy
Mentally, physically, spiritually and socially! Forgive and release past hurts that hold you ransom. You’ll be all the better for it.
#2 – Be thankful. Even the bible asks that we are thankful IN everything. As annoying and impossible as this sounds, this is really the only way to keep mindful of what you do have as opposed to what you don’t. Dig deep and find that one thing that God has given you which brings you joy, then be thankful for it. Is it your kids? Your career? Your good health? Great support system? Choosing to be happy regardless of what you face, helps keep you sane and nothing anyone does will impale you. When given the choice between your mind and your marriage, choose your mind! You need to be mentally well to stay present in other areas of your life, as well as work on fixing your marriage.

And no excuses, you should also…
#3 – Get Help. You can’t handle all this stress yourself. Look for a professional marriage counselor/coach to help you both work on your marriage and get this area of your life, healthy. Seeking help forces the both of you to hear from someone who is able to steer you both in the right direction and away from all dysfunction. You need to take back the power you have ceded to another human being and realize that no one should be able to control you. God has the power to control us but still chooses not to. So why allow a mere mortal influence your life to breaking point?

Stop blaming people for your misfortune
You can give second chances, but ensure you have followed the right process to get things fixed the proper way. No man, woman, boy, girl, no one born of a woman should be held responsible for your actions or your state of mind. You could’ve chosen different but didn’t and that’s the reason you find yourself in such a bad situation.

The person to hold responsible is the “man in the mirror”!
I’m not asking you to beat up yourself about your situation, just hoping you’d make the necessary changes to keep a healthy state of mind regardless of what’s happening in your relationship. These three tips working extremely well…try them!
Here’s to a renewed and revived state of mind.
