MTN Partners NUC On Technology-assisted Learning

MTN Nigeria is partnering with National Universities Commission (NUC) on a conference to discuss the role of ICT in education, as well as the latest innovations and achievements as regards Technology-assisted Learning in tertiary institutions of learning across the country.

The one-day conference, which holds Tomorrow, August 31 in Abuja, will discuss issues regarding challenges and barriers to ICT assisted learning in Nigeria.

Seasoned speakers, including Dr. Eamon Kelly, President Emeritus, Tulane University; and Ms. Chelsea Waite, Officer, Partnerships and Global Initiatives at Digital Promise Foundation will speak on different topics.

In a press release made available to The Guardian, Ms. Nonny Ugboma, Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation (MTNF), said, “MTNF has awarded 5,248 scholarships to both blind and sighted students since 2009, bringing the total sum spent to over N1 billion as at December 2014.

The scholarships are offered under the MTNF Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (STSS) and MTNF Scholarship Scheme for Blind Students (SBSS) instituted to assist high performing Nigerian students to pursue their education in public tertiary institutions across the country.” Each awardee would receive a yearly scholarship of N200,000 to cover tuition, book allowance and stipend for upkeep,” she said.
