Governor’s wife urges NGOs to sustain people-oriented programmes

Dr Amina Bello, wife of Niger Governor, has called on non-governmental organisations to sustain their support for the less privileged members of the society.

She made the call on Sunday during the inauguration of the 29th District Chairman, and executives of the Inner Wheel District 913, Nigeria in Bida Local Government Areas of Niger.

Bello urged the Inner Wheel to continue to be a partner in complementing the new administration’s effort at improving the standard of living for citizens of the state.

“I commend the humanitarian gesture of the Inner Wheel for embarking on meaningful projects that touch and affect the lives of the people,’’ she said.

Bello who was represented by Mrs Mary Yisa, a director in the state ministry, assured the district of collaboration in all gender related projects and programmes.

Mrs Florence Arogundade, the District 913 Chairman, said the district would uphold the aims and objectives of Inner Wheel.

She pointed out that the Wheel would continue to promote true friendship, encourage ideas of personal service to foster local, national and international understanding and friendship.

Arogundade said that the district would embark on more projects such as sinking of boreholes as well as widows and youth empowerment.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of sewing machines to two beneficiaries by the newly inaugurated executive.
