It is very important to take good care of yourself no matter how young or old you are, as this tends to serve you in good stead, as one grows older. Few weeks ago, a grandmother of 78 years was spotted at the getting a manicure and pedicure. When asked, she answered that she had to look good always since she wasn’t dead yet. This just goes to show that everyone, especially women want to look good always, regardless of their age.

In light of this, the biggest beauty consideration should be the skin and keeping it in tip-top condition at all times. The better your skin, the less makeup you’ll need. In fact, if you keep your skin well hydrated and exfoliated, you would quickly discover that you would have little need to wear concealer, mascara and lip- sticks everyday.
Here are some tips to looking even better than ever:
Moisturize: Moisturizing your body and face will make your skin glow and keep it looking young. It also helps make up stay better on the face, if you are so inclined.

Applying a retinol cream every few days would go a long way too, as it gives the skin that youthful glow again.
A flaky skin is a reality, as one grows older, it is important to exfoliate to get rid of dead skin. Exfoliate your face at least three times in a week, using a buttermilk facial scrub or coconut oil facial dubs that also contain vitamin A.
Use a moisturizing cream frequently on your skin especially if you have dry skin. No lotion is going to magically make those fine lines and wrinkles disappear totally, but slathering on a generous amount of moisturizer and moisturizing lotion before applying makeup would plump up the skin and make those wrinkles and fine lines a little less visible.

Many older women still use the same beauty products they used several years ago. This is not ideal because the skin changes not only yearly, but also seasonally. Get age appropriate products that suit your skin as you age.
Applying a layer of primer between your skin and makeup will help your makeup glide on flawlessly. We recommend primers for your eyes if you use eye shadows, and for your face if you apply foundation. Add a layer of primer between your moisturizer and your foundation for a cooler face.

Less is more when it comes to makeup at this stage. You don’t want to pile on the foundation, eyeliner and heavy lipsticks, just a little of everything will do just fine.
Oil-free powder and foundation are the best for you. Try and avoid Creamy foundations and blushes, as these tend to make one look older.
A pop of blush on the apples of your cheeks can brighten a dull complexion. But you must make them blend well so it’s not too flashy and ostentatious on your cheeks.

You may notice that as you grow older, your lip line gets thinner. To make them appear fuller, always use a coloured lip-gloss, as this works wonders. Use a lip liner first to outline the lips or a lipstick that is a shade or two darker than your natural lip color. Avoid dark coloured lipstick as this would make you look older, you are better off with lighter colours.
Keep your face, neck and hands protected from the sun as much as possible. Wear sunshades and sunscreen if you have to be in the sun for an extended period of time.

Most importantly, never go to bed without taking off your makeup no matter how tired you are.
