Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac town, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos was filled to capacity recently by the members and friends of Rotary Club of Amuwo including the District Governor, Bola Onabadejo.

The gathering was to witness the installations of Mr. Patrick Liberty Ejiogu as the 29th President of the club and also the new board of directors that would serve the club in the 2015/ 2016 Rotary year.

The ceremony commenced with a call to order by the outgoing President, Kosiso Udechukwu.

Shortly after his installation and decoration as the new president, an elated Ejiogu pledged to sustain the spirit of the club and maintain high level of integrity and good conscience in conducting the affairs of the club.

Paddy as he is fondly called, is a businessman and 2002 graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He joined the club in 2010 and has served both the club and district in various capacities.

He said under his watch, the club would through Rotary’s five avenues of service execute projects worth N12 million in Amuwo and Ojo community.

He declared: “In line with Rotary International policies, we shall promote, improve and strengthen active participation of all members to participate in executing projects that will make a difference and improve the standard of living.”

He commended the leadership of Udechukwu and other board members for their commitment towards achieving the objectives of Rotary.

The occasion, attended by the leadership of the district and other Rotarians from other clubs, also had in attendance the Executive Director of Mainstreet Bank Limited, Mr. Ano Anyanwu, who was the guest of honour, and Mr. Olujimi Tewe of Inspiro Consulting Limited, as the guest speaker.

Managing Director of Sun Stone, Limited, Mr. Anogwi Anyawu; Member House of Representative, Mohammed Garba Gololo; Nollywood Actress, Mrs. Stephanie Lin‎us; Managing Director,‎ Mainstreet Bank Insurance Brokers Ltd. Mr. Casmir Chibuzo Azubuike; General Overseer, David Christian Centre, Pastor Kingsley Okonwo; Mrs. Nnenna Olumba Kalu of Neokal Oil & Gas & Marine Services Limited; Regional Manager, Enterprise Bank Limited, Mr. Emeka Anagor; and MD/CEO, CIO Agency Limited, Mr. Okey Igbokwe, given awards for their humanitarian services at the occasion.

The new inducted Board of Directors were Essienette Aniekan (Vice President), Francis Ogugua (Secretary), Josephine Okpanachi (Treasurer), Christy Akaeze (Chair, Club Administration), Toby Okorafo (Chair, Rotary Foundation) and Noela Adaobi Ifedirah (Chair, Public Relations), among others.

Onabadejo, while (in his remark) urged Rotarians and the newly inducted board to “Be a gift to the World” as mandated by the club, said: “We are suppose to make our resources available to the world. The journey of life is such that you will be remembered for the amount of your goodwill to mankind, not the number of cars you own.”
