PAUL-CopySINGER/SONGWRITER, actor, publisher and preacher who first ventured into music in the college fellowship choir in Benin, Paul Persol, has caught the attention of a few media watchmen in Nigeria.

Persol, who had a traumatic experience, growing up with a single father was first endeared to the deep, philosophical and inspiring Reggae music largely commercialised by the group called ‘The Wailers’ in the 70s, also had many stage performances in dance, acting and singing as a Theatre Arts student in University of Benin. After graduation, he ventured into the advertising and rose to the position of a director in Leo Burnett, Lagos, Nigeria office.

The first personal Reggae song he ever wrote hit him on his way back home one afternoon, and since then, he has written over 30 top quality songs by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He is also the author of the fast selling ‘Woman You Need To Hear This’, currently on Amazon, published by AuthorHouse, United Kingdom.

Other books include ‘People’s Parliament’, ‘God Must Be Guilty!’ ‘Flee Divorce’ ‘The Man in The Child’ ‘Oliha, the Oba does no wrong’ ‘Tales of Two Movie Scripts’ ‘Madman Avenue’ ‘The god called WOMAN’ etc. He is building his music band – ‘The Wilderness Wailers.’ He is currently anchoring the strictly Reggae TV programme – ‘Raga Rage with Paul Persol’, featuring Reggae personalities, history, news and music from the Reggae world.

His first album ‘His Banner’ on TATE Music, USA label has nine tracts of the rustic root rock reggae with a unique wilderness wailing voice effect, to make the songs penetrate very easily. The words are matured and deep, according to the original lyric pattern for reggae music. The messages are very clear and direct, addressing issues of life especially as it affects man’s relationship with his creator. ‘His Banner’ won the 2012 Nigeria Gospel Music Awards, in the best Reggae category.

Persol has currently released a new single ‘Ina mi bone’ – a captivating Gospel dance hall which attracted 232 downloads in one day on Kingdomboiz website. ‘Ina mi bone’ was performed during the nominee recognition by the MEGA Awards committee at LTV, Ikeja Lagos. ‘Ina mi bone’ was also performed during the Christmas on the street, organized by X2D and Gosporella FM in Ogba, Lagos. ‘Ina mi bone’ is currently nominated for best Reggae Awards in the 2015 Crystal Awards. The single – ‘Ina mi bone’ along songs like ‘Worthy’ and ‘Can’t run’ will be part of the second album – ‘One World’ currently in the works.
