From the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came yesterday a declaration that it was on the same page with the Federal Government in the fight against corruption, “but due process must be followed to ensure that it is not used as a guise to victimize innocent citizens and curtail the freedom of Nigerians.”

The opposition PDP, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, yesterday said the clarification became necessary to remove any misconception that it is against the decision of the current administration to probe some past officials of government because they are PDP members.

“The PDP supports the decision of the Federal Government to fight
corruption in our country. However, we make bold to state that it should not be used as a guise to victimize innocent citizens. Democracy has
come to stay in Nigeria and no citizen, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliation should be denied access to due process and the rule of law in the process.

“In the same vein, we want to state categorically that the anti-corruption war, whilst targeted at the immediate past administration, should not by any means be blind to the impunity of the present leaders of the country either in terms of borrowing and spending without recourse to the statutory arms and organs of government and dictates of transparency and accountability, or in terms of nepotism in appointments in key institutions such as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Department of State Security (DSS).

“The anti-corruption effort must not be blind to the corrupting of the security system resulting in the intrusion by over-zealous operatives on issues bordering purely on politics; the hounding, arrest and detention of resident electoral officers and members of election tribunals in Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and other PDP states.

“Furthermore, we make bold to state that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. In that regard therefore, we advice members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) blowing the horn ahead of the cart to keep quiet because many of them have been major beneficiaries of corruption and sleazes associated with themselves and their allies, especially one of them who, as a disguised errand boy of a well known APC leader, is a major beneficiary of the largesse of perpetrators of corruption.

“Apart from Mr. President, who for now, is not associated with any sleaze or corrupt activity in this democracy, most APC leaders are still those who, as governors, ministers and labour leaders have been the worst corrupt set of Nigerians ever to bestride the political landscape of the country.
“It is a great miscarriage of perception therefore for APC leaders who are perpetrators of sleazes and corrupt acts to attempt to deceive Nigerians with imaginary holiness in this anti-corruption war by the President.

Consequently, we counsel Mr. President, as the leader of the APC to remove the log in the eyes of his party while we support his commitment to remove the speck from the eyes of others.”

A load of crap meant for some igbos who are the only ones who still find PDP appealing these days. You will have to learn the difference between good and evil first otherwise you will just be mouthing off opposing every good move of government without really knowing what you are doing. When these your members were stealing and busy apportioning the treasury to themselves, did they do it with the so called ¨due process¨ and whatever that means or are you trying to tell mankind the two words and its meanings only just came into existence since Buhari came to power? PDP will forever remain the congregation of the descendants of the demons the Bible said once roamed the earth and the last sixteen years is a clear example of what demons of that magnitude can do.

Indeed Mr. Metuh but you forgot to inform the corrupt office holders to follow the due process when they were streaking the franchise and the treasury. The way they stole-in is precisely the way they would be found guilty since our Courts are not known for being reckless. Those who looted the Treasury on account of the Public Trust reposed in them must answer for that no let up for any crooked executive again the era of “common theft” is a history that must no be repeated.. Change is here.

The man is speaking the truth, only those who has blinded their mind will think the flight will only be centered on PDP, if that happens, Buhari will then be regarded as the worst president in Nigerian history, if he is partial in his fight against corruption. It should be total overhaul, be it any party, PDP, APC and the rest of them.

Olisa Metuh is not a patriotic Nigerian

So the FGN should leave the investigation of the minister that has been fingered for stealing $6 billion and go and investigate “spending without recourse to the statutory arms and organs of government”

His statements are opposition-savvy. While not out-rightly killing the progressive momentum in the ruling Party, he is cautiously pointing to the caveats of its unintended excesses should they in a moment of indiscretion manifest. He is doing his job very well. He is showing reason when he disagrees not blind opposition. It is a democracy in action. Every opposing points merit consideration before dumping or using in governance.
