The crises rocking the Anambra State Football Association (ASFA) took a dramatic turn at the weekend when a court injunction stopped elections scheduled to begin on July 25 with the Local Government Football Councils  (LGFC) polls.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Had earlier set up a normalization committee to settle the crisis that saw the body factionalised with each claiming to be the authentic board of the FA.

The Chairman of the ASFA Normalisation Committee, Iloegbune Okoye, who briefed newsmen in Awka,  announced the suspension of the exercise, saying that the originating summon and restraining order was instituted by one Anthony Chimezie Okanta from Anambra High Court Aguata Division, Ekwulobia.

According to him, joined in the suit are Clifford Okoye, chairman of the normalisation committee, Onyedika Chijioke (Secretary) and Chike Ononye, who is chairman of the ASFA electoral committee .

A copy of the order signed by Justice C. N.  Mbonu-Nwenyi reads: “The defendants are hereby restrained from conducting elections into the Local Government Football Councils in Anambra State on July 25, 2015 pending the determination of motion on notice.

“That the application is granted provided applicants serves the respondents on or before July 24, 2015 and case is adjourned to July 27.”

He said they would be in court today to vacate the order and ensure the normalisation committee concluded the election within the time frame directed by the NFF.
