NCF sign pact with partners West Indies

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has concluded a partnership agreement with West Indies Cricket Association
to develop cricket in the country.

NCF President, Emeka Onyeama, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from Barbados, venue of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Annual General Meeting (AGM), that the partnership would be in different folds.

“We were able to reach an understanding with West Indies, a full member country OF ICC, and they have agreed to cooperate with us in the development of the game.

“They will visit Nigeria from time to time and we can also visit them to have a feel of a full member country.

“However, we cannot define the way or form the collaboration will take; it will be defined with time. The most important thing is that a full member country is willing to collaborate with Nigeria to develop cricket,’’ Onyeama said.

The NCF boss said even though the area of concentration in the partnership could not be completely defined for now, it would include the development of the National teams and the coaches.

He also said that the ICC was doing everything it could to ensure that Nigeria hosted the 2016 Division Five Cricket World Cup.

“ICC is very happy with our presentation and they are putting every effort at ensuring that we host the Division 5 Cricket World Cup.

“We have got the nod of all the associate member countries that are supposed to be in division five,’’ he added.

The countries are Tanzania, Oman, Jersey, Vanuatu and Argentina. The ICC/AGM, which began in Barbados on June 22 ended yesterday.
