Mikel to quit Chelsea for Dubai

AfricanFootball.com was first to report that Mikel is now considering his future away from Stamford Bridge after playing a bit role in the past two seasons with ‘The Blues’.

Mikel representatives will meet with Al Ain officials tomorrow to begin negotiations for a possible transfer from the English Premier League for the Nigeria star.

“Mikel’s representatives will begin discussions with Al Ain on Friday in Dubai over a possible transfer,” a source disclosed to only AfricanFootball.com “The player has sanctioned the meeting and may even be part of it. It is now left to be seen what the club will put on the table for him.”

The Nigeria midfielder, who has been at Chelsea since 2006 and still has a contract with London club Chelsea till June 2017, wants to secure his future financially and so the decision to possibly move to the backwater league in the United Arab Emirates for several millions of petro-dollars.

On Tuesday, Mikel featured for Chelsea when they piped Sydney 1-0 in a friendly played in Australia. He played the entire 90 minutes.
