Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau on Wednesday solicited for the support and cooperation of traditional rulers in the state for the success of his administration.

Lalong, who made the request in an interactive session with the traditional rulers in Jos, described them as critical stakeholders in the state.

He said as custodians of the diverse cultures, their support would have far reaching effect as far as unity and peaceful coexistence in the state were concerned.
“We, therefore, seek for your usual support, counseling and prayers without which we would never remain united,’’ he said.

The Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba, thanked the governor for immediately calling on them after his assumption of office.

He prayed God to give him the needed wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.

Buba, who is also the Chairman of the State Traditional Council, said that the council and the state were facing a lot of challenges.

He, on behalf of his colleagues, pledged to work with the Lalong Administration to address the challenges confronting the state.

He appealed to the people of the state to know that the electioneering period was over and called on them to support the new administration to enable it succeed.

“I want the people of Plateau to be conscious of the fact that the electioneering is over. We must, therefore, create the necessary environment for the government to succeed,’’ Buba said.
