For an organization to function effectively in achieving its aim, vision and objectives in a thriving environment, it needs a vibrant Human Resource department to achieve the desired goal for an optimal growth.

Human Resource department oversees total functionality of an organization, as part of its duty is to maximize employees’ performance of an employer’s strategic objectives. Human Resource is primarily concerned with the management of people within organizations, focusing on policies and systems.

To this end, Integrated Corporate Service, a leading business support solutions company as part of its 20th anniversary, hosted HR Professionals and business leaders to a breakfast meeting tagged ‘ICS HR roundtable.

According to the organiser, the meeting was inspired by the passion to provide a platform to foster knowledge sharing and expand business network amongst HR and Business Leaders. It was designed to meet the needs of HR professionals and business leaders following their quest to have a point of convergence to discuss current and emerging HR trends, challenges and best global practices as key strategic business leaders.

Besides the company said the theme, ‘’Enhancing HR metrics to drive business performance’’ was inspired by the leading trend in HR on datafication and analytics globally.

Speaking at the forum, Managing Director, Integrated Corporate Service Limited, Femi Olatide said the roundtable is set aside to give back to its stakeholders as parts of its activities to mark the 20th anniversary of its company.

Head Corporate Service and Business Development of ICS Ltd, Peter Akindeju said the forum is basically to create awareness for HR practice. “In Nigeria we are still at the point of trying to gather verifiable data. We need to improve the way we gather data in Nigeria, we need to make sure we are using the data for strategic reasons in strategic decisions to an increasable development”, Akindeju said.

Regarding the issue of unemployment, he explained that the firm has been recruiting year in year out, as at today we have 13, 000 people working full time. Apart from that we are also creating opportunity through various channels; apart from training we are also looking at development proving capabilities. So that those that cannot get job can also have the certification to get jobs elsewhere.

“We believe with this little effort and if the government can do a bit more, the unemployment rate would be reduced.
“If the government can look at other areas like agriculture, Information Technology enabled services, which is outsourcing, give incentives to organisations, invests in these areas and encourage people, we believe that the unemployment rate will be drastically reduced in Nigeria.
