Accountant arraingned for allegedly stealing N25m from NNPC
An accountant, Sarah Suowari, 39, was arraigned before a High Court in Yenagoa, charged with stealing N25 million from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The charge sheet stated that Suowari committed the offence on Jan. 20, 2015, at the NNPC Mega Filling Station on Sani Abacha Expressway, Yenagoa.
It stated that the accused, an accountant, stole the money belonging to the NNPC Mega Filling Station.
However, when the case was mentioned for hearing, the state counsel, Mr J.O. Nathan, asked the court for an adjournment, to enable him to amend the charge and to file an application to provide additional evidence.
Justice G.S. Botei, who expressed displeasure over the development, adjourned the case to July 20 and urged the prosecuting counsel to approach his job more diligently before the next hearing date.

Let justice be done, whether she is guilty or innocent. I do however wonder how many similar cases of theft exist that we don’t know of, which could be what the media is confusing for corruption/graft.
We will review and take appropriate action.
