Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been granted compassionate leave for the second time this season, but his Spurs future remains uncertain.

The Togo international, 31, has written about his family issues on Facebook and said he had considered suicide.

He will miss today’s league finale at Everton, as well as the post-season trip to Kuala Lumpur and then Sydney.

“Of course we let him go to Togo and fix his problems with his family,” said boss Mauricio Pochettino.

“This is a private life. I spoke with him earlier in the week, it is difficult for him.”

Adebayor joined Spurs in 2011 from Manchester City, initially on loan, before an impressive first season tally of 18 goals saw the switch become permanent for £5m the following summer.

He was granted personal leave by Spurs in December and has struggled this season, scoring twice in 17 appearances.
He had been on the verge of a January deadline-day loan move to West Ham only for chairman Daniel Levy to cancel the deal.
