South Korea launches amphibious tour bus

Visitors to South Korea will in future be able to explore the Ara canal that travels between the west coast and the capital Seoul in a colourful amphibious bus, a report said on Monday.

The spokesman for the operator, Aqua Tourism Korea, said that the bus could travel on land and on the water.

“It is the first amphibious bus for tourists in South Korea.

“From mid-May the bus will operate daily between Incheon on the west coast and the city of Gimpo near Seoul.

The report added that the tour would travel for around 50 minutes on the land along the canal and then spend 15 minutes on the water.

It noted that the tourists would be able to see sights such as flower gardens, a waterfall and an eco-park.

“For adults, the trip will cost 30,000 Won (around 28 dollars or 26 euro) and for children 25,000 Won,’’ Aqua Tourism Korea said.

It said that the amphibious was completed in 2011, adding that the 18-kilometre Ara canal connects the Han river in Gimpo to the Yellow Sea at Incheon.
