AS various aspirants for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives continue to canvass support for their ambition ahead of inauguration of the 8th assembly in June, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, yesterday met with returning members and members-elect from Borno and Yobe States to solicit their endorsement.

It was gathered that the move is part of his plans to synchronise his ambition with the proposed zoning formula of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is said to have moved the two positions to the South-West and North-East respectively.

In anticipation of the ratification of this proposal, Monguno, who is gunning for the number four position in the political hierarchy in the country yesterday reiterated his readiness to work with whoever the party decides to pair him with.

Monguno, a legal practitioner is said to be enjoying the full backing of the members from the two states and the contender to beat in the entire zone because of his outreach and grass root appeal.

The meeting, it was learnt is expected to continue apace with members of other states in the Northeast.

Monguno, a member of the ruling All progressive congress (APC) emerged winner at the last general elections to return to the lower chamber for the third term to represents Marte, Monhuno and Nganzai Federal Constituency of Borno state.
