NATIONAL and State House of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal in Plateau State has been inaugurated at the State High Court Complex with 20 petitions filed.

The three–man team headed by Justice O.O. Akeredolu, warned counsel that frivolous adjournments will not be tolerated, saying that that became imperative because the time allotted to pre – trial conference is only 14 days of its commencement, citing paragraph 18 (9) of the Electoral Act as the base authority.

Akeredolu also reminded the counsel that as the tribunal does not have luxury of time, it will sit from day to day including Saturdays with public holidays inclusive but with the consent of the parties, adding that should the parties consider settling their differences amicably outside the tribunal, the idea will be welcome as there will be no terms of settlement will be required.

Meanwhile, Plateau State indigenes resident in Lagos have been assured by Governor-elect Simon Lalong of an all-inclusive government in the incoming administration aimed at reconciling all aggrieved people in the state in order to move the state forward.

He admonished the Plateau indigenes to fully participate in moving the state forward by availing his administration with their contributions.
