THE Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has congratulated the Managing Director of Sun Newspapers, Mr. Femi Adesina, over his re-election as president of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE)

Okorocha, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant, Media, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, in Owerri, noted that Adesina’s colleague editors chose to re-elect him because of his sterling performance, adding that the journalism profession under his watch has been uplifted. While praying God to lead him and the Guild, the governor promised that his government would continue to partner the NGE.

The statement signed by Onwuemeodo reads: “The governor said Mr. Adesina had worked hard in his first term as president of the Guild to deserve another tenure; and that it was not surprising that his colleagues did not fail to appreciate what he has been doing to re-position the body by re-electing him.

“Governor Okorocha said aside Mr. Adesina doing very well as president of the Editors’ Guild, he has also done the media profession proud by ensuring and displaying professionalism and discipline in all he does as a media practitioner, and described him as a journalist whose vocational conduct is worthy of emulation.

“He assured that the government of the state would continue to partner the Guild for the charity it has for the journalism profession and the practitioners owing also to the sacred role they have been playing in nation-building.”
