Norwich dash Omeruo’s English Premiership dream
Super Eagles’ defender, Kenneth Omeruo’s dream of playing n in the English premiership next season with his loan club, Middlesbrough was snuffed out yesterday by Norwich City, which the Aitor Karanka tutored side 2-0.
Goals from Cameron Jerome and Nathan Redmond secured a top-flight return for Alex Neil’s men, who are returning to the elite class at the first time of asking.
The Canaries had seemingly Norfolk and chance as their promotion challenge faltered under Neil Adams this season. But Neil won his 17th game in just 25 since taking over at the club to guide them back to the promised land.
Middlesbrough, who came into this game with the best defence in the division, were undone by a sloppy opening goal and a stunning second as they disintegrated in the first half.
Patrick Bamford was rushed back to play in this fixture, but the only thing the Chelsea loanee showed was that he was nowhere near fit. There could, of course, be the argument that Boro’s attack has leaned too heavily on the young Englishman to propel them forward in a campaign where they only feature in mid-table for goals scored.
While Norwich – the best side in the division for parts of the season – could count on a raft of players to contribute.
