AYOKA, Prime and Modele have become the first set of three contestants to be evicted out of the on-going Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol Season V, after drawing the least cumulative number of votes. With their eviction, the competition now has nine contestants remaining.

They are, Brenda, Dolu, Uloma, Preye, K-Peace, Nex2, Sther, P Scholes and Classiq Tunez. Out of the top 12, Classiq Tunez and Uloma had the highest cumulative number of votes while Ayoka and Modele had the lowest.

Speaking on the results of the first top 12 elimination show, Head, Events and Sponsorships, Etisalat Nigeria, Modupe Thani, said she was surprised to see some of the three evicted contestants go so soon, but the show has got to go on and the best contestant will be crowned in a few weeks. “It is indeed sad to see such fantastic talents evicted from the show, but there can be only one winner.

With five ladies and four gentlemen left in the competition, the Etisalat-Sponsored Nigerian Idol crown is for the best among them.’’ Speaking in the same vein, one of the Judges, Dede Mabiaku, said he was shocked that Ayoka was evicted from the show, advising other contestants to increase their fan base with superlative performances.

Interestingly, host of the show, IllRymz, added that the judges have the unique opportunity to use a lifeline to save one contestant who they believe was unfairly voted out of the show.

This season’s winner will go home with N7.5 million cash; a brand new car and a recording deal with Universal Music Company worth N7.5 million, amongst other prizes. Meanwhile, Tantalizers Plc, Nigeria’s leading Quick Service Restaurant chain, on Sunday hosted Nigerian Idol Season 5 final 12 contestants at its Victoria Island, Lagos, outlet.

Tantalizers Plc, the official food partner of the on-going Nigerian Idol project for the second year running, packaged the event to delight the contestants after the stressful, rigorous and keenly contested initial rounds, which saw the emergence of 12 contestants. In doing this, the company provided a conducive environment for the contestants to relax before going into the next round of the project.

According to the Deputy Managing Director of Tantalizers Plc, Mr. Gbolahan Labinjo: “Tantalizers decided to partner with Nigerian Idol for the second year running because of its belief in Nigerian youths as the leaders of tomorrow and the brand’s desire to assist them in realising their dreams”.

Labinjo also explained that the organisers, contestants, crew, and others involved in Nigerian Idol project needed to be continuously revitalized and nourished during the exercise, hence Tantalizers’ continuing involvement to take up the challenge.

The contestants were treated to exciting and fun time which included meeting with fans, photographic session, signing of autographs and musical entertainment. The contestants also demonstrated the use of Tantalizers Gift Certificates, which is a gift package given to friends, lovers, family members, workers, colleagues, among others to appreciate their worth.
