As part of its yearly corporate social responsibility exercise, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has concluded plans to commence this year’s phase of its mentoring programme.

Tagged, mentoring of young entrepreneurs, the exercise is set to commence on Friday 8th of May with an opening ceremony at LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

According to a statement from the chamber, the yearly programme, which is the third in the series, has 50 participants, a significant increase from the 20 it started with in 2013 and the 25 that graduated last year.

“The Mentorship Programme is a baby of the Business Education Services and Training (BEST) Unit of the Chamber which has a Vice President of the Chamber, Mrs. Toki Mabogunje as Chairperson. It has been described as a very laudable Corporate Social Responsibility of the Chamber.

“According to Mrs Mabogunje, the young entrepreneurs are attached to well-established and high-profile members of the Chamber who nurture and guide them on the nuances of entrepreneurship.

“Two of such mentees in 2013 won awards for their skills and business acumen in competitions organised by Sterling Bank and You Win 2. All the graduates of the scheme are already well-established in business. The programme lasts six months”, the statement read in part.
