Jonathan Returns Home To Heroic Welcome

IT was a carnival of sorts yesterday in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, as people poured in their numbers onto the streets of the tiny city to welcome their son, former President Goodluck Jonathan.
At a formal reception held in his honour at the Cultural Centre, Jonathan, who was overwhelmed by the crowd that thronged the centre, said he was grateful to the people of Bayelsa, all Ijaw people and every Nigerian for all the support they gave him while he was present.
He said he will now dedicate his life to peace building across the country as he strongly believes in the unity of the nation.
Accompanied by almost all the immediate past minsters in his cabinet and some serving members of the Senate and House, Jonathan said he will continue to render services to the country any time the
need arises.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for stating emphatically that he belongs to everybody but belongs to nobody as such disposition will endeared him to nation.
The former President particularly expressed appreciation to Governor Henry Seriaki Dickson for the honour he has done him by organising an elaborate reception for him and called on Bayelsans to continue to support
the government both at the state and Federal level.
Governor Dickson, full of emotion, praised Jonathan, saying he is one of the best Presidents Nigeria has produced.
His Royal Majesty, King Alfred Diete, the Amayanabo of Twon Brass, in a goodwill massage on behalf of the elders and people of the state, also thanked Nigerians for the support they gave to Jonathan.

His remarks are best set, from a national perspective, in the last major speech he made. Going through his Pre-Inauguration Dinner speech and recalling the reality of life in Nigeria real-time I wonder who, as between President Jonathan and his speech writers deserve the credit for the script! Sadly, the speech depicted President Jonathan. Give it to him! Ever Ostriched; he is yoked to denying the obvious all his National and Public life. In the early paragraphs he says his government set out to deepen democracy and provide good governance. He ends by saying he beliefs Nigeria is now secure and his stated objectives achieved.This statement coming from The President at these times when insecurity speaks for itself while the opposition and the international community had to keep sleepless nights to midwife democratic transition of power in the face of his vile deployment of our foreign exchange earnings in the direction of voter intimidation and substantial non-compliance with the electoral process is, at best, fraudulent as it is conscienceless. Indeed President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is a cruel, strange but curious mix of the dumb and the devious – some grotesquely split personality. He was so incompoetent Mr. Bean would do a better job! Indeed true that “some moithers do have them”!His sarcastic remarks to the effect that other governments before his should also be probed showcases the best of the dumb and the devious! He caused us so much pain! His new self-proclaimed mission of Peace-Ambassador will further advance the box-office hit that’s been showing for six years now titled “The Clown of Otuoke”. Thank God Nigeria is rid of him and his unruly bull-in-a-Chinashop brand of a First-Lady in the nauseating person of Mrs. Patience Faka Jonathan. He deserves his people’s welcome though – North, South, East or West – home they say is the best! It is time for him to lay on his bed as made by him.

When fired from a job, we can all hope that our friends will console us while still grieving, but it is essential to help develop your friends by telling them the truth. If the people of Bayelsa keep lying to Jona and themselves about his record, then I am afraid that they will not develop their minds and their community. We can lie to everyone but not to ourselves. Jona was not good in office, there is no lying about that, he was fired because he was incompetent and couldn’t perform under any circumstance. Best that he get a job as a lecturer, where he doesn’t have to perform to keep his job.

He left the billions alright in the treasury. But he failed to fix our roads, he failed to fix the railways, he failed to fix the airports. GEJ eventhough is not a angel himself.
