Drawing the curtains on the drama

SIR: The whirlwind called Patience has blown through. The people recognize the turbulence of a gigantic force of nature. It was colourful and erratic, but most of all, powerful. The unrestrained manner of her swirl made citizens squirm.

Like everything else that has a beginning, the blast must come to an end. Fairy lovers will miss the excitement of the carnival-like atmosphere. The motorcades, like the escort of secret service of American President that block the decrepit Nigerian roads for the goddess and her entourage of political princesses to launch a beauty salon, take honorary title or deliver a speech to widows and orphans, have made an abrupt final stop to the chagrin of the impostors.

I believe majority of the citizenry would say goodbye to the horrid wind. They have battered memory of sleepless nights pondering how this rash weather lingered. The possible explanation they could fathom being the reign of impunity. A disastrous system has availed a drama queen the unhindered momentum to play out her fantasies to the detriment of decency.

In a country where many children could not afford mere transport fare to school, she stood on a campaign podium in Ibadan narrating how she had to take her children to London to sight a train for the first time.

On the same political stage, she appealed that the opposition party must not be allowed to win in the election because they said that they would put her in prison. Perhaps, she has reason to believe that her squandering of political decorum raises cause for alarm.

The itchy question is, who will be housed in the First Ladies of Africa Centre that she funded? It is likely that the office may not be open in the coming dispensation in Nigeria. Of all, I am relieved that I do not have to be tortured to watch the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) coverage of the cyclone of her fancies. The drama is over.
