Boy, 18, allegedly stabs 25-year-old man to death in Bauchi

A TEENAGER Babangida Bala, in Bauchi State has stabbed one Umar Yusuf to death as a result of an argument that ensued between them.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Bauchi State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed revealed this in a statement and copy made available to newsmen in Bauchi on yesterday.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), as a result of the argument, Bala removed a sharp knife and stabbed the deceased on his chest and stomach.

“On the 15/5/2015 at about 11: 30pm an argument ensued between one Umar Yusuf, 25 years, and Babangida Bala, 18 years, all males of Jahun, Bauchi State. As a result, Babangida removed a sharp knife and stabbed Umar on his chest and stomach.”

He further stated that the timely intervention of the police and community leaders saved the teenager from being lynched by an irate mob.

DSP Mohammed added that the police rushed both Yusuf and Bala to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in the state capital, where the former was certified dead by a medical doctor.

“Suspect was rescued from the irate mob by the police and community leaders who were about to lynch him and both were rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for medical attention but the stabbed victim was certified dead by a medical doctor, while the suspect was treated, discharged and subsequently, arrested by police detectives attached to Dutsen Tanshi Division,” the police spokesman stated.

He informed that the case was under investigation after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
