THE Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), a pan-Yoruba organisation, has urged Nigeria’s President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to implement policies that would bring succour to the citizens.

In a statement jointly signed by Major General R. A. Adebayo (rtd) and Chief Idowu Sofola (SAN), president and secretary general respectively, the group said the overwhelming victory of APC in the elections is not only for the candidates, but also for all Nigerians, Africa and the rest of the world.

“We urge Gen Buhari and Prof. Osinbajo to bear in mind that their victory is not enough to register their names in the golden pages of history, but to fulfill the lofty promises made to all Nigerians during campaign.

YCE also commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the peaceful conduct and success of the elections, adding that the acceptance of defeat by congratulating Buhari before the umpire declared a winner is a show of sportsmanship, patriotism, grace and candour.
