Wally Walter Foundation to cater for women, children in Lagos, Oyo

AS part of efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger in Nigeria and also achieve a universal primary education for the less-privileged in the society, Wally Walters has set up a foundation to cater for their needs in Lagos and Oyo states, a programme, which would commence in June.

AS part of efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger in Nigeria and also achieve a universal primary education for the less-privileged in the society, Wally Walters has set up a foundation to cater for their needs in Lagos and Oyo states, a programme, which would commence in June.

This was disclosed by the Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Wally Walters Foundation, Mr. Adewale Ishola, at a forum with stakeholders from different sectors, who have contributed to the success of the foundation.

According to Ishola, the goals of the foundation include a modern foster home, skills acquisition workshop, education health fair, equipped music room, library/tutor centre and a computer laboratory and school bus/vans for transportation of volunteers and beneficiaries.

He also noted that although the foundation was planning to admit about a 100 persons, the facilities on ground would be a determinant of that. The foundation would commence with the underprivileged women and children in Lagos and Oyo states before spreading to other parts of the country.

Wally Walters Foundation is the sister-non governmental organization to Gifted Hands Foundation, a United States-based non-profit organisation and due to the measurable success the foundation has achieved in the past two years, considering the high rate of poverty among widows, orphans and troubled youths in Nigeria, it led to setting up of this foundation in Nigeria to tackle such issues.”

Supporting the development of positive health and wellness, educational opportunities, adequate nutrition, food security, and future sustainability, the foundation would provide guide for women and children through motivational speeches and activities.

The Director of Public Relations Wally Walters Foundation, Mr. Olowokere Taiwo noted that organisations have responded positively through supports and sponsorships, which are encouraging and would help them, accomplish their goals and objectives.

The Head of Planning and Coordination, Wally Walters foundation, Mr. Tola Banire, added that the foundation would provide job opportunities for the youths.
