DESPITE the mass defection of members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressive Party (APC) Niger State governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has assured that PDP will not lose its relevance in Nigeria’s politics.

Aliyu who also expressed optimism that the would bounce back in 2019 to reclaim what it lost in this year’s elections, gave the assurance when the party’s Gubernatorial Campaign Organization led by its Director-General, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, was on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Minna.

While addressing his guests who also included the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Umar Nasko, Aliyu disclosed that the PDP will meet at states and federal levels to correct its mistakes in early preparations for the 2019 elections.

According to him, “Our party is not dead. When all these cool down, we will properly re-organize to bring PDP back to its formidable political strength. Many things have happened and this is not the time for us to trade blames.

“I therefore hope that during the time we now have to re-organize our party, we would add more ideology to what we have. Let me urge you to stop thinking that you have failed. In terms of elections, particularly the time we found ourselves, it went beyond the limits of individual efforts.”

The governor expressed satisfactions on the outcome of the 2015 elections and said that the exercise was free, fair and devoid of any electoral violence. He therefore thanked the state’s electorate for conducting themselves in the most peaceful manner before, during and after the elections.

Speaking earlier, Wushishi commended Aliyu’s political maturity and the way he took the elections despite the fact that the results were not in favor of the party saying the governor exhibited the character of a good leader.

He urged Aliyu not to be dismayed by the outcome and pointed out that he has done well in the area of providing dividends of democracy for the people of Niger State.

“We will continue to be with you wherever you go. You can always count on us whenever you need us. We have seen your work in all the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State. May God continue to bless and guide you in your future endeavour”, he said.
