NSE’s market capitalisation up by N221billion

FOLLOWING price gains recorded by most blue chip companies, transactions on the equity sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday sustained rising profile, causing market capitalisation to appreciate by N221 billion.

FOLLOWING price gains recorded by most blue chip companies, transactions on the equity sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday sustained rising profile, causing market capitalisation to appreciate by N221 billion.

Yesterday, the market capitalisation of listed equities went up by 2.10 per cent  to N10.717 trillion from N10.496 trillion recorded on Monday.

Also the NSE All Share Index grew by 654.01 basis points to 31744.82 points from N31090.81 points traded the previous day.

The volume of trading activities increased by 183.196 million or  93 per cent as investors bought 379.453 million shares worth N5.053 billion in 4138 deals against 196.257 million shares valued at N1.837 billion exchanged in 3638 deals.

An analysis of yesterday’s trading showed that ‎ Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table for the day, increasing by N40.00 to close at N845.00, Total Nigeria Plc followed with N15.00 to close at N180.00 while Guinness Nigeria Plc gained N6.19 kobo to close at N132.19 kobo.

Nigerian Breweries Plc appreciated by N3.70 kobo to close at N143.70 kobo and Conoil increased by N3.53 kobo to close at N39.13 kobo.

On the contrary, Seplat Petroleum Development topped the losers chart, dropping by N1.00 to close at N398.00, FBN Holdings trailed with a loss of N0.20 kobo to close at N8.70 kobo while Redstarex declined by N0.15 kobo to close at N3.60 kobo. Other company that depreciated in price were Diamond Bank which fell by N0.13 kobo to close at N4.05 kobo and Skye Bank dropped by N0.06 kobo to close at N2.40 kobo.

Further analysis showed that ‎ Access Bank traded 77.957 million shares worth N484.660 million in 184 deals Oando Plc followed with account of 41.424 million shares valued at N580.558 million in 407 deals, FBNHoldings sold 35.067 million shares cost N309.801 million in 435 deals.

Zenith International Bank exchange 29.634 million shares worth N612.792 million in 404 deals and GTBank traded 24.314 million shares worth N633.816 million in 211 deals
