Nnamani’s Petition May Rub-off On PDP Rep’s Victory

There are indications that the decision by former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, to challenge the return of Senator Gil Nnaji as the winner of the March 28 National Assembly election at the Election Petition Tribunal may also negatively affect the victory of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate for Nkanu East Federal Constituency, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam.

Nnamani told The Guardian that signs that he was going to be robbed of victory emerged when the Chief Security Officer to Governor Sullivan Chime came to his local government on the Election Day and the House of Representatives candidate for PDP, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ujam, was caught with cartons of PVCs, totaling more than 4000.

He added that though soldiers caught the alleged electoral offender, it was curious that they released him without booking or detaining him. He added that it would now be left for the tribunal to decide whether the declaration of the same candidate as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) was in order.

State Chairman of People for Democratic Change, (PDC) the platform on which Nnamani contested the March 28 election, Comrade Sunday Ani, had in a statement made available to journalists explained that the former governor petitioned the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Enugu to challenge the widespread irregularities that characterised the election.
