The prosecutor, Insp. Dominic Joseph told the court that a police patrol team from Drumi Police Divisional Headquarters, arrested one Jemilu Yusuf with an iron cutter on April 12, and that subsequent investigations revealed that Yusuf was abducted by Musa.

The Police on Friday arraigned a 25-year-old man, Inusa Musa at the Gudu Upper Area Court for alleged abduction.

The accused, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of abduction and belonging to a gang of thieves.

The prosecutor, Insp. Dominic Joseph told the court that a police patrol team from Drumi Police Divisional Headquarters, arrested one Jemilu Yusuf with an iron cutter on April 12, and that subsequent investigations revealed that Yusuf was abducted by Musa.

The prosecutor also said that Yusuf was abducted from his parents house at Durumi 1, and all efforts trace his whereabout had proved abortive.

He said that the accused had bolted and left Yusuf with the iron cutter when he sighted the police patrol vehicle.

According to him, the accused intended to use the iron cutter to break into shops located in Durumi 2, Newsite, Abuja.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 272 and 306 of the penal code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty, and the Judge Alhaji Umar Kagarko granted him bail in the sum of N20, 000 with a reliable surety that must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the case to May 21 for hearing.
