The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat and congratulating Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on the outcome of the March 28 presidential election.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat and congratulating Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on the outcome of the March 28 presidential election.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of ACF National Executive Committee, Alhaji Ahmadu Coomasie, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kaduna.

“This singular action of President Jonathan places him as the first sitting President to accept defeat and even congratulate his opponent in the Nigerian history of elections.

“This confirms Mr President’s earlier resolve to accept the outcome of the 2015 Presidential election and to place the nation above his personal ambition.

“ACF urges other contestants to emulate the magnanimity of President Jonathan.”

The group also congratulated the president-elect on his victory.

It described the election as a milestone and saluted Nigerians for their “perseverance, resilience, determination and hard work”, which led to the successful and peaceful conduct of the polls.

“ACF urges all Nigerians to demonstrate the same spirit and commitment in the April 11 Governorship and State Assembly Elections.”

ACF’s foremost duty is help Buhari not to drag Nigeria back as almost all Nigerian presidents from North has done. That Nigerian is not yet a developed country is as a result of ACF’s actions. If Buhari has lost the election, will ACF encourage him to accept defeat? Won’t the North controlled by ACF resort to killings? Jonathan’s action should be a lesson to the North. Jonathan should be given award for conducting a successful free and fair election for the first time in Nigeria.

Jonathan has shown every Nigerian how to be a helper of the people, even those who vilified you for their own ends. He alone must enjoy the adulation of all Nigerians on this day and beyond. What a Child of Nigeria he truly is! He has brought a mountain of pride to our beleaguered image hitherto synonymous with looters, cheats and fraudsters. Thank you GEJ. Ibori, did you see that? Don’t feel anything but shear pride as a Nigerian today. I am 10′ taller this day.

President GEJ is probably the most honourable Nigerian leader in living memory and I was born in 1951 – make of that what you will. This child of our nation has laid down a marker and the finest example of good citizenship.

President GEJ has demonstrated that he really loves this country by his words and actions. His acceptance speech of defeat to General Buhari goes to show that his ambitions does not worth the blood of a single Nigerian. As incumbent president he has all the power to thwart the democratic process but he refuses the temptation. I Congratulates Mr President and wish him well in his future endeavour after May 29th, 2015. I equally congratulates Gen. Buhari on his election. I call on all Nigerians to maintain peace and order. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

You are kidding. A one time executive of a state, an incumbent President of the most powerful nation in Africa – still expecting “a great future” – From Otuoko? Be serious.

His historic and bold step of handing over power to Buhari has indeed poised him for greater opportunities ahead. Please if that seem too hard for you to understand, do not reply this again, I’ve not got time for trivial issues.

ACF are bunch of hypocrites. Whether they congratulate GEJ or not does not make any sense. They have been part of the evil from the North that has dragged this nation backward for quite sometime now. They are just being happy that their enemy has been forcefully removed from office by not a too transparent, free and fair election as we are being made to believe. The charade in some states in the North West is a shame and disgrace to a society clamoring for change.
