Garba explains decision to camp Flying Eagles in Germany

Flying Eagles’ Coach, Manu Garba, is optimistic of his team’s success at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup billed to commence in New Zealand next month.

The team is still waiting on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to conclude visa arrangements at the German embassy, but it plans to embark on a training tour of the European country tomorrow.

Garba told The Guardian that they decided to camp in Germany to play quality friendlies and train with good facilities for three weeks before departing for New Zealand.

He said the team preferred Germany because it shares the same weather condition with New Zealand, adding that 30 players would be in the squad for Germany.

“We plan to depart for Germany on Wednesday if the NFF concluded visa arrangements with the embassy on schedule. At the end of the camping, we will drop nine players, while 21 will finally make the list to New Zealand.

“We will play against big teams like Brazil in our group game and our major target is to win the games and qualify from that group,” he added.
