DSTV subscribers kick against tariff hike in Ebonyi

DIGITAL Satellite Television (DSTV) subscribers in Ebonyi State have kicked against the decision of MultiChoice to increase tariff, threatening to stage a mass protest over the increase.

The subscribers therefore, appealed to the incoming government of Major General Muhammadu Buhari to look into the activities of DSTV and save them from exploitation.

Speaking to The Guardian at the weekend in Abakaliki most of the subscribers registered dissatisfaction over the increase, adding that urgent steps ought to be taken quickly to address the situation.

A subscriber, who identified himself simply as John said that he went to pay for his monthly subscription only to discover that the amount has been increased.

“I used to pay N3, 000 monthly subscription for Family bouquet but was surprised when I was told that the new amount was N3, 600,” John said.
Another customer who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said that he used to subscribe with N11, 650 Premium but now I have come down to Compact Plus, which was formally N7, 850 naira and now N9, 480.
