Buhari tells PDP defectors not to expect ministerial appointments
President elect, Muhammadu Buhari yesterday ruled out the possibility that defectors from the peoples democratic party (PDP) would be asigned key position in his cabinet.
In an interactive session with reporters in Daura, he said those joining the All progressive congress ( APC) should be ready to play second fiddle for now.
The president elect who spoke while responding to a question as to whether defectors from PDP would not pollute the ranks of the APC assured all defectors that they would be treated in a just and fair manner in an APC led government.
According to him: “For those that are coming into the APC, I have no fear because we have our party structure. The fact that you were a party chairman or you were a minister before you join the APC, we appreciate the fact that you remain relevant in your immediate locality. But when it comes to the centre, there is some equality in the way the government will handle you.
“If we win majority of members of the National Assembly and Houses of Assembly in the states, it means that it is with the agreement of their constituencies that the federal government has the power that it has. If the federal government is insisting on accountability and being responsible, even if they go back to their constituencies, there is nothing they can do about the decision of the government.
“We are banking on that. I will give you an example of my state, Katsina. In 2011, the CPC win all the senatorial seats and 13 out of the 15 House of Representatives seats but they lost the governorship. Who did the election? Did people from space come for the election? That is the bad thing about lack of cohesion in a party. Leadership at all levels must work in concert.
“Otherwise, what Katsina state suffered, any state or the centre can suffer same. Those were chief executives from local government, to states will be encourage to work together. So, those that are coming in, I hope they will accept that they are coming to join those who succeeded and they should cooperate with them. They can’t come and say that because they were once Ministers under PDP, they will join APC and become ministers the following month or so. I don’t think that it will be acceptable even by their constituencies.”

good news from Buhari, because defectors should learn how to build their party.
PDP DEFECTORS ARE LOW -QUALITY THUGS AND OPPORTUNISTS WHO DESERTED THE PDP OF ALI BABA AND FORTY THIEVES.
AFTER THEIR MASTER, ALI BABA’S MASSIVE DEFEAT, THE FORTY THIEVES ARE NOW RUNNING HELTER-SKELTER LIKE A HEADLESS CHICKEN. THEY SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY SCRUTINIZED BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED INTO THE APC AND STILL BETTER, THESE SLIMY AND GREEDY OPPORTUNISTS SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY FROM APC.
Agreed totally!
This Buhari dey always like to dey share bad news. Ah Ahn, im no go diplomacy school?
You be fake Tosin.
Why are you calling tosin fake? Is it not possible to express your opinion in this country without someone calling you names. Pls note that we have freedom of expression and if you can’t bear it chunk out.
For people who see black and calls it white are not worth recognition. Hope you are not in that category?
Correct!
Jonathan’s “diplomacy” was and is still there for you to see!
The people who are defecting from PDP or any other party to APC are nothing but ‘chop-chop’ politicians. In any democracy worth its name, there must be a vibrant opposition. Part of the reasons why the APC won the 2015 elections is because it has been ‘strengthened’ by leading figures who defected from the ruling party. What the PDP has to do is to go back to the drawing board, take stock, build alliances, correct their errors and wait for an opportunity in future to effect a change through the electoral process. That is what happens in mature democracies. Our democracy has failed if, by Buhari’s emergence, Nigeria evolves into a one- party state.
Good, they should not be given even chancellorship. Nice that APC used them. Please Buhari, try to unseat the Governors that came from PDP too. The best is for them to watch and see how Party Administration is run . Teach them that they should not be unfaithful else they will be trail you too
The most powerful party in Nigeria has always been AGP which stands for “Any Government in Power” They will do everything to stay in government jobs because they are useless, have no skills and are unproductive. They are bench warmers and seat warmers who cannot succeed in the private sector.
You took the words rite outta ma mouth, bro!!
SCRAMBLE FOR POLITICAL POSTS HAVE BEGUN. TO LOOT THE NATION DRY AGAIN. HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA. THE SAME LOOTERS ROTATING
Not this time, man, not this time. You will see!
Good stance Mr. President-Elect! Once a sellout, always a sellout!
Good stance Mr President-Elect! Once a sellout, always a sellout!
To the bone, man!
defectors are political jobbers and saboteurs.
…….with no brains whatsoever. They are like flies and cockcroaches, whatever they touch, they contaminate and destroy.
vin! nice one
No shaking P, enjoy!!
I want technocrats as ministers, don’t want politicians.
Gbam!
Why did he wait till after the elections to tell them this? Nevertheless, that is what those political jobbers deserve. They are only good to be used and dumped. If you have no principle worthy of fighting for then you are not supposed to be in politics.
Correction madam/sir, this is for those who came after election.
Strategy, my dear friend, strategy. If he had made that announcement, they (pdp) defectors, would probably flee the country.
In any field of endeavour, defectors are not trustworthy, they dumped their party at the 11th hour expecting to reap where they did not sow, they better go back to their party and plan ahead for the next election, they were only needed to win election, the APC does not need them again, if I must interprete Buhari’s statements.
THOSE DECAMPED SHOULD HOLD ON LET APC SETTLE B4 THEY COME IN, WELDONE GEN BUHARI
Good talk Buhari but that is not the end of the talk, because, even those APC members that may become ministers thoroughly vetted to weed out those who must have set their eyes on ‘looting’ and may be thinking it is going to be business as usual. In the next dispensation to be ushered in, anyone found corrupt must be jailed as well as forfeiting the looted money
I don’t think that they were defecting because of ministerial appointments, but most likely to take a cover under APC in order to hide their loots while in PDP since they know that there is going to be probes and the search light will be beaming on PDP officials including presidency.
But APC is made up of these PDP theives namely; Atiku, Goje, Saraki, Tambwal, Wamako, Kwankwasso, Abdullahi Adamu, Almakura, Gamade, Ortom, Akume, Amaechi, Melaiye, Nyako, Masari, El-rufai, Na’aba, etc, etc. In fact the list is endless.
APC conveniently forgets and pretend these ones don’t have a ‘past’.
Don’t mind APC, we are watching. The list is indeed endless, including Oyinlola, OBJ, Niyi Adebayo, etc…
Igbo hater GMB is talking to post March 28 defectors get that clear into your head, you people hate everything Buhari but he is your president now comes may 29th deal that.
Join the discussion…
My dear friend, remember that their president (GEJ) then is corrupt than GMB who is APC president.
So leadership begin from top.
EVEN ONE CHURCH MAN THAT ORDER FOR BUHARI AREST CONGRATULATED HIM FOR WINING
APC IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE PARTY
BUT A MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE
IF NOT PROPERLY HANDLED IT WILL SOON DISINTEGRATE
DAPO SHOGBOLA
We will review and take appropriate action.
