Golden Eaglets coaches end search for new players
GOLDEN Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has declared that his search for new players to be injected into the squad ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup has ended. The 2015 cadet championship will hold in Chile later this year.
Amuneke who has been going round the country to fish out more young talents after the Eaglets not too impressive performance at the recently concluded African U-17 Championship in Republic of Niger, told The Guardian that the technical crew had concluded the search for new players.
The search, which took the technical crew to some part of the country according to him, ended yesterday (Wednesday).
Amuneke hinted that they were able to discover some talented players who are capable of wrestling shirts from some of the players who took part at the African Championship in Niger. He noted that his focus for now is to get all players in camp to compete favorably for permanent shirt in the squad.
The former Barcelona player also declared that the technical crew would work hard to correct the lapses noticed in the team in Niger Republic.
He said: “I have just ended the search for new players to be injected into the Golden Eaglets. Getting enough players to fight for shirts in the team will enable me select the best legs. After the African championship, we have to correct some of the anomalies that affected the team in Niger,” he said.
Amuneke further stated that he was not facing any form of pressure at the moment saying: “I believe I have enough players that can give me good result in Chile,” he said.
