CP FCT assures residents of peaceful election

FOR tomorrow’s elections, FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu has restated the preparedness of the Command to ensure the peaceful and seamless conduct of the elections in the six Area Councils of FCT. He emphasized the Command’s readiness to provide round the clock security before, during and after the general elections.

While assuring residents of their safety, the Commissioner of Police reiterated that the Command is adequately prepared for the elections and has concluded arrangement for the deployment of its personnel to the 1886 voting points and collations centres in FCT.

The Command also seize this medium to inform residents and visitors to FCT that it will enforce a ban on vehicular movement which will apply to all except: Ambulances, Fire service trucks and others on essential duties as from 8.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday 28th March, 2015. He enjoined residents to be law abiding and conduct themselves in the most civil and lawful manner.

Similarly, private and voluntary organizations such as Boys Scout, Vigilante Groups, Boys Brigade, Peace Ambassador, Man O War are advised not to be seen in their uniform within 300meters of polling unit.

The Command also warn potential trouble makers to steer clear of Polling Units as adequate security arrangement has been put in place to deal with such situations.
